Can we talk?
About the legal stuff?
I use Google Analytics. It tracks how many people visit the site, where they came from, what browser they use, what they read. I’m sure it writes cookies to your browser, but I’m not dead certain about it. I only use that information to see if anyone is actually reading my ramblings and what they seem to enjoy. That way I can self-sabotage and never write things people want to read.
I don’t get or keep personal details about you. I wouldn’t dream of selling any of that information to anyone. I think you’re pretty safe in visiting here. If I think anything nefarious is happening that might put your privacy at risk, I’ll jump in and fix it because that’s what I would want you to do for me.
Look, I’m not getting rich on this blog. I’m likely the only person who reads it but on the offchance that someone accidentally stumbles across this blog and clicks on a link, I do have affiliate relationships with a couple of companies. These are vendors I use and love and have no qualms about recommending. Like I said, I use them.
Amazon – I read. I have a library card and use it frequently. Sometimes, I buy books to read. Clicking on an Amazon affiliate link will drop a nickel into my account so I can buy more books. Usually reference books. I like my local booksellers but they just aren’t going to carry 1,000 page tomes on SEO or CSS.
Hosting – I use and recommend a couple of web hosting companies. These recommendations change from time to time, so I won’t list them here. But, if you buy hosting with my affiliate link, I get some money. Not a lot, but enough to buy organic catnip for the kittens and not that nasty stuff that’s all seeds and stems.
Themes – I’m currently a huge fan of Genesis and their child themes. This site is built on Genesis. If you need a solid theme that’s not loaded up with all kinds of useless crap, has excellent support staff (I’ve met one or two of them), and looks pretty good, then I can heartily recommend the Genesis Framework. Or you could make your life hell and buy some badly coded piece of garbage that’s going to go tits up with every plugin update.
Other – photos, software, online courses. These are all things I use and love. You might use and love them, too.
